Job Description:
We are looking for an experienced Systems Engineer to join our expanding Rail Systems Engineering team. You’ll be working in a part of Telent dedicated to maintaining the UK-wide rail network. Our customers include Transport for London, Network Rail, and various Train Operating Companies.
Reporting to the Lead Safety and Security Engineer, the system engineer will be responsible for delivering project upgrade works mainly across Network Rail, TFL, TFGM, etc. infrastructure. Acting as the systems engineer for customer projects, you will handle all technical aspects, including survey, design, and technical tasks related to SISS within a Rail environment.
Typical Deliverables
- Strong experience in system design, survey, and technical engineering within SISS.
- Potentially lead the creation of new product or service ideas and develop plans for new designs.
- Manage ideas from initial design through to production or installation.
- Draw detailed technical plans for ideas and concepts.
- Apply mathematical and scientific skills to develop practical solutions.
- Select appropriate materials for new products or constructions.
- Perform accurate cost analysis forecasts.
- Complete technical and regulatory documentation.
- Ensure quality control and oversee construction, development, and deployment.
Responsibilities
- Maintain in-depth knowledge of your professional engineering discipline and basic knowledge of related disciplines.
- Arrange testing for products, systems, software, or infrastructure.
- Ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
- Continuously develop personal engineering skills.
- Solve complex problems with innovative perspectives.
- Work independently with minimal guidance.
- Lead projects or project phases and be accountable for ongoing activities.
- Mentor less experienced colleagues.
- Comply with QEHS requirements.
Skill Requirements
- Previous technical experience in SISS, engineering, design, and survey skills.
- Relevant licenses/certifications for the discipline.
- Proficiency with MS Office, AutoCAD, MicroStation, and other CAD software.
- Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to work collaboratively and focus on customer needs.
- Problem-solving passion and strong analytical skills.
