Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced Systems Engineer to join our expanding Rail Systems Engineering team. You will work in a division of Telent dedicated to maintaining the UK rail network, serving clients such as Transport for London, Network Rail, and various Train Operating Companies.

Reporting to the Lead Safety and Security Engineer, the Systems Engineer will be responsible for delivering project upgrades primarily across Network Rail, TFL, TFGM infrastructure. You will handle all technical aspects of projects, including surveys, design, and technical work related to SISS within a rail environment.

Typical Deliverables

• Extensive experience in system design, surveying, and technical engineering within SISS.
• Potentially lead the development of new products or services and create plans for new designs.
• Manage ideas from initial design through to production and installation.
• Create detailed technical plans for concepts and ideas.
• Apply mathematical and scientific skills to develop practical solutions.
• Select suitable materials for new products or constructions.
• Perform accurate cost analysis and forecasting.
• Complete technical and regulatory documentation.
• Ensure quality control and oversee the construction, development, and deployment of systems.

Responsibilities

• Maintain in-depth knowledge of your engineering discipline and basic knowledge of related disciplines.
• Coordinate testing of products, systems, software, or infrastructure.
• Ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
• Continuously develop personal engineering skills.
• Problem-solve with innovative perspectives.
• Work independently with minimal guidance.
• Lead projects or project phases and be accountable for ongoing activities.
• Mentor less experienced colleagues.
• Comply with QEHS requirements.

Skill Requirements

• Proven experience in technical SISS, engineering, design, and surveying.
• Relevant licenses and certifications.
• Proficiency with MS Office and CAD software like AutoCAD/MicroStation.
• Knowledge of quality standards, processes, and regulatory requirements.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Ability to collaborate effectively and focus on customer needs.
• Passion for problem-solving and providing workable solutions.
• Strong analytical skills and ability to visualize processes.
