Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced Systems Engineer to join our expanding Rail Systems Engineering team. You will work within a part of Telent dedicated to maintaining the UK-wide rail network. Our clients include Transport for London, Network Rail, and various Train Operating Companies.
Reporting to the Lead Safety and Security Engineer, the system engineer will be responsible for delivering project upgrade works primarily across Network Rail, TFL, TFGM, etc. infrastructure. As the systems engineer for customer projects, you will handle all technical aspects, including survey, design, and technical execution of SISS within a Rail environment.
Typical Deliverables
- Strong experience in system design, surveying, and technical engineering within SISS.
- Potentially lead in creating new product or service ideas and develop plans for new designs.
- Manage ideas from initial design through to production and installation.
- Create detailed technical plans for concepts and ideas.
- Apply mathematical and scientific skills to develop practical solutions.
- Select appropriate materials for new products or constructions.
- Perform accurate cost analysis and forecasting for projects.
- Complete necessary technical and regulatory documentation.
- Ensure quality control tests are conducted on new products/systems and oversee their construction, development, and deployment.
Responsibilities
- Maintain in-depth knowledge of your engineering discipline and basic understanding of related disciplines.
- Arrange testing of products, systems, software, or infrastructure.
- Ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
- Continuously develop personal engineering skills.
- Solve complex problems and approach existing solutions from new perspectives.
- Work independently with minimal guidance.
- Lead projects or project phases and be accountable for ongoing activities or objectives.
- Mentor colleagues with less experience.
- Comply with all QEHS requirements related to the role.
Skill Requirements
- Previous technical experience in SISS, engineering, design, and surveying.
- Relevant licenses/certifications for the discipline or sector.
- Proficiency with MS Office, Word, Excel, etc.
- Knowledge of quality standards, processes, and regulatory requirements.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, MicroStation, and other CAD software.
- Ability to collaborate effectively.
- Customer-focused with stakeholder management skills.
- Passion for solving problems and providing solutions.
- Strong analytical and reasoning skills with process visualization ability.
