Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced Systems Engineer to join our expanding Rail Systems Engineering team. You will work within Telent's dedicated team responsible for maintaining the UK-wide rail network, serving clients such as Transport for London, Network Rail, and Train Operating Companies.
Reporting to the Lead Safety and Security Engineer, you will deliver project upgrades primarily across Network Rail, TFL, TFGM, and related infrastructure. Your role involves overseeing all technical aspects of projects, including survey, design, and technical implementation of SISS in a rail environment.
Typical Deliverables:
- Extensive experience in system design, surveying, and technical engineering within SISS.
- Potential leadership in developing new product ideas and designing plans.
- Managing projects from initial design through to production and installation.
- Creating detailed technical plans for ideas and concepts.
- Applying mathematical and scientific skills to develop real-world solutions.
- Choosing appropriate materials for construction or product development.
- Performing accurate cost analysis and forecasting.
- Completing technical and regulatory documentation.
- Ensuring quality control and overseeing deployment of systems or products.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain in-depth knowledge of professional engineering disciplines and related areas.
- Coordinate testing of products, systems, software, or infrastructure.
- Ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
- Continuously develop personal engineering skills.
- Resolve complex problems with innovative solutions.
- Work independently with minimal guidance.
- Lead projects or project phases, and mentor less experienced colleagues.
- Adhere to QEHS requirements.
Skill Requirements:
- Proven experience in SISS, engineering, design, and survey skills.
- Relevant licenses/certifications for the discipline.
- Proficiency with MS Office, AutoCAD, MicroStation, and other CAD software.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to collaborate effectively and focus on customer needs.
- Problem-solving passion and strong analytical skills.
