Position: Transportation Construction Inspector, Bath, PA

Reports to: Project Manager

General Qualities:

- Is a proactive Self – starter.

- Provides technical support.

- Can accomplish assigned tasks independently with guidance from their supervisor.

- Capable of developing solutions to problems.

Technical Responsibilities:

- Must monitor and document the construction project is being built in accordance with the plans and specifications.

- Review and interpret plans, site layouts, specifications, and construction methods to ensure compliance to legal requirements and safety regulations.

- Construction Inspection

- Performs routine tests on concrete, soils, and other materials.

- Measure dimensions and verify level, alignment, and elevation of structures, fixtures, grades and/or pavement to ensure compliance to plans and codes.

- Gather and maintain record documents.

- Report to and provide support for office project manager.

- Be able to perform work independently.

- Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

Educational and Professional Requirements:

- One (1) Year minimum experience as a Transportation Assistant 2; or two (2) years of Transportation Construction Inspection experience and a H.S. Diploma; or four (4) years of highway/building trades construction, inspection; or design experience and a H.S. Diploma.

- Must posses a valid driver’s license.

- Must adhere to KSE and project specific safety rules and requirements.

- Working knowledge of Microsoft word and Excel and to navigate through company internet-based systems.

- Working usage of an iPad.

- English skills, written and verbal, are required in this role.

- Possess basic math skills necessary to perform computations for length, area, and volume.

- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

- Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, and procedures.

- Availability to work various shifts, including night shift. Overtime is often required.

- Position is subject to seasonal layoff.

- Work is performed in the field.

- Ability to extensively perform bending, kneeling, standing, shoveling, walking along rough terrain, climbing ladders, and lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 25 pounds as needed. Work may be conducted outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions.
