Job summary

Bidfood seeks a Transport Team Manager to lead a night-shift team, ensuring safe, compliant operations and efficient service. The role concentrates on coaching staff, maintaining high safety standards, and delivering customer-focused logistics with precise scheduling.

You will oversee recruitment, performance, and workload planning while upholding regulatory compliance and strong team morale in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Must demonstrate the ability to manage and motivate a transport team.
• Proven communication skills across all levels of the business.
• Knowledge of transport legislation and compliance.
• Track record of meeting and exceeding KPI targets.
• Ability to drive performance and safety improvements.

Responsibilities

• Coach the team to reach its full potential.
• Communicate openly and deliver key messages at the right time.
• Manage recruitment, attendance, performance, conduct, safety and service.
• Oversee management of commercial vehicles, cages and pallets.
• Oversee PPE, vehicle checks, servicing, MOTs, VORs and temperature checks.
• Allocate work considering team capability and legal driving hours to meet targets.
• Carry out quality investigations as needed.
• Promote safety in all activities.

This is a nights position. 09:00 - 06:45

5 out of 7 days. Weekend working is included.

As Transport Team Manager, you'll work as part of a team responsible for managing the operations, compliance and most importantly... the people! You'll really 'get' the value in recognising good work in the team and making sure they are motivated will be your priority! You'll lead the team putting safety at the forefront and working towards shared goals of delivering the best service!

Some of the key parts of the role:

• Coaching the team to reach their full potential
• Communicating openly and consistently, delivering key messages to the team at the right time
• Managing recruitment, absence, performance conduct safety and service.
• Responsible for managing commercial vehicles, cages and pallets
• PPE, vehicle checks CV servicing MOT's, VOR's, temperature checks, near misses to name a few!
• Allocating work considering individual/team capability and legal driving hours to achieve targets
• Carrying out good quality investigations
• And no matter what you're doing, you'll always be promoting and managing all safety
