Job summary

Culina Group in Wakefield is seeking a Transport Team Leader to manage day-to-day planning for the transport operation within our Transport Logistics division.

The role requires the ability to lead, coordinate with drivers and third-party hauliers, and ensure on-time despatch and delivery while maintaining service levels. Shift is 4 on 4 off nights (18:00-06:00) with a salary of £29,000–£32,000 dependent on experience.

Qualifications

• Transport experience in FMCG environment.
• Excellent communication skills to deliver accurate information.
• Ability to work efficiently and accurately under pressure.
• Able to work as part of a team or individually.
• Be professional, approachable and helpful to ensure smooth running of the general operation.
• Knowledge & experience of tachograph / driving rules and regulations.
• CPC National desirable but not essential.
• Attention to detail / accuracy.
• Good IT skills including Microsoft office packages.
• Effectively prioritise workload in order to meet set deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Allocate drivers and vehicles to loads efficiently, considering holidays, sickness, drivers hours and WTD regulations.
• Plan driver start times to meet despatch KPI.
• Communicate with third party hauliers to ensure collection times are adhered to.
• Liaise with shunting operation for pre-loading and unloading.
• Maintain clear communication with drivers with start times, load information and directions.
• Ensure orders are despatched and delivered per customer specifications.
• Communicate delays to collection or delivery points.
• Ensure service levels are achieved and maintained with other departments.
• Allocate equipment to meet maintenance/service intervals as instructed by maintenance planner.
• Adhere to Health & Safety policy and report accidents.

Life in this role

As part of our, Transport Logistics division, we have an exciting opportunity to join the team as aTransport Team Leader.

Salary:£29,000 - £32,000, depending on experience

Shift: 4 on 4 off nights, 18:00-6:00

Key Duties of Transport Team Leader:

As a Transport Planner you will be contributing to the success of the transport team, you will be responsible for completing and overseeing the day-to-day planning function of the transport operation. A highly motivated and driven individual, you will be experienced at working in a quick and fast-paced environment and be able to deal with day to day challenges in providing an effective transport plan.

• To allocate both drivers and vehicles to loads in the most efficient way, taking into account holidays and sickness, drivers hours and WTD regulations.
• Planning driver start times to meet the sites despatch KPI.
• Proactively communicate with third party hauliers to ensure collection times are adhered to from site.
• Liaising with the shunting operation covering pre loading and unloading operation.
• Maintaining clear and effective communication with drivers, communicating accurate start times, load information, directions.
• Ensure orders are despatched and delivered in the right condition in line with customer specifications.
• Communicate with the collection or delivery points to advice of any delays.
• Ensuring that service levels are achieved and maintained, in conjunction with other departments.
• Allocate equipment to meet maintenance / service intervals as instructed by the maintenance planner.
• Adhere to the business Health & Safety policy, ensuring that all accidents are reported.
