We have an exciting opportunity for a Transport Supervisor to join us at our Barnsley Hub.

This is a 4 on 4 off role, day shifts are usually 6am to 6pm but can vary depending on time of year and workloads.

What will you do in the role?

  • As our Transport Shift Supervisor, you'll report to the Transport Shift Manager and will be pivotal in providing leadership and direction to your shift of Drivers.
  • You will be responsible for motivating your colleagues, problem solving on a day-to-day basis, and ensuring that the transport operation runs smoothly across your shift, providing a detailed handover to your Shift Manager and fellow Supervisors.
  • Your responsibilities will include briefing and debriefing drivers to ensure all instructions for their allocated runs are understood and actioned.
  • Working and partnering with external and internal clients regarding collections and deliveries.
  • Revising driver log sheets with the drivers, ensuring that defects raised during vehicle checks are completed and all accidents/damage are reported daily.

What skills/qualifications are required?

  • Experience in collating reports on Driver information, including Digi tachographs, Health & Safety for site and Drivers.
  • Experience in route optimisation and problem solving would be useful for our Transport Shift Supervisor role.
  • Some experience with TMS systems such as Isotrak, Tachomaster, Ortec, or equivalent.
  • Fully PC literate, with the ability to use Windows and MS Office, especially Excel, Outlook, and Teams.
  • Ability to motivate and efficiently prioritise pressing needs, even where there isn’t an obvious solution.
  • Lateral and original thinking, logistics experience, and experience working in a busy Transport office would be advantageous.
