Transport Supervisor

Location: Tilbury, Essex

Salary: GBP30,000 - GBP35,000

Working Hours: Monday - Friday, 8am - 5pm

We are currently recruiting for an experienced General Haulage Transport Supervisor to join a large organisation specializing in general haulage and container loads throughout the UK.

The role involves supporting the current transport operation, focusing on logistics and providing customers with positive end-to-end transport solutions.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Previous experience in a transport supervisor or operational role
  • Strong knowledge of driver hours regulations and O Licence processes
  • Excellent people management and communication skills
  • Experience with driver investigations, accident investigations, and disciplinary processes
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Outlook and Excel
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Decisive and competent decision-making skills
  • Strong IT skills

Responsibilities:

  • Support the Transport Manager in ensuring legal compliance and operational procedures
  • Promote safety by conducting incident investigations and delivering safety messages
  • Build and maintain relationships with drivers, planners, and clients
  • Assist with recruitment, onboarding, and training
  • Report on key performance indicators (KPIs) to stakeholders
  • Handle driver concerns, wages, expenses, resource allocation, and PPE distribution
  • Maintain driver infringement rates within standards
  • Reduce safety incidents and meet budget targets
  • Minimize late or dropped loads
  • Foster strong customer relationships
