Contract Personnel are seeking a Transport Supervisor in and around Swaffham! We are partnering with a growing, reputable business.
Role Overview:
- Ensure adherence to company vision, values, policies, and procedures at all times.
- Act as Deputy in the absence of the Logistics Manager.
- Ensure vehicle and driver compliance with Operator license, site, EU, and other legal requirements; monitor and improve the working environment.
- Conduct risk assessments on customer premises for major changes or new business, as advised by the customer account team.
- Respond promptly to requests from other departments and drivers, providing efficient solutions.
- Maintain stock levels necessary for business continuity (e.g., driver defect book, tacho rolls, cleaning supplies, uniforms).
- Ensure drivers deliver customer service levels that meet agreed standards.
- Monitor vehicle maintenance plans and ensure documentation complies with health and safety regulations.
- Achieve route optimisation savings and ensure routes are profitable, minimizing the use of agency drivers.
- Investigate and implement corrective actions using current systems (e.g., FTA Vision, TMS2, Telematics, Dynamics, GLAD, SOL) to resolve logistics issues and improve working practices.
- Lead, manage, and develop personnel, including managing absences, disciplinary actions, PDRs, infringements, grievances, health and safety training, and driver assessments, using SMART objectives.
- Develop and monitor budgets in collaboration with the Logistics Manager, investigating variances.
- Contribute to environmental impact reduction through route efficiency and economy.
- Ensure driver compliance with EN14065 standards, e.g., daily vehicle disinfection.
- Meet Service Agent KPIs related to service quality, business retention, and growth.
Candidate Requirements:
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Positive attitude, flexibility, and quick-reacting to customer needs.
- Ability to influence and lead teams effectively.
- Attention to detail and data analysis skills for continuous improvement.
- Organizational skills for task management.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Experience with lean (Six Sigma) methodologies (preferred).
- Valid HGV 2 license or UK Driver's License for at least 1 year (preferred).
- CPC holder.
- Previous supervisory experience (2-3 years) is desirable but not essential.
- Maths and English GCSE Grade C or above, or vocational training.
- Experience with health and safety regulations in a previous role.
- No more than 6 points on driving license.
