Prestigious Client based in Lutterworth is seeking a Transport Supervisor to start immediately on a temporary contract, which may lead to a permanent role for the right candidate.
The role is varied and involves the following responsibilities:
- Ensuring H&S and legal compliance related to the role.
- Allocating vehicles and drivers according to the transport plan.
- Planning, organizing, and managing the work for all transport staff and customers.
- Controlling driver resources, including holiday allocation, absence cover, and cost-effective use of agency labor.
- Understanding and meeting company Operating Licence obligations, with rigorous enforcement of controls and procedures.
- Ensuring compliance with Health and Safety, Environmental, and Operator's Licence requirements, while delivering excellent customer service measured against KPIs for Safety, Service, and Profitability.
- Adhering to all Health & Safety protocols, including inductions, training, near-miss reporting, and emergency procedures.
- Monitoring daily driver hours to comply with the Working Time Directive.
- Managing personnel, monitoring progress, and addressing issues promptly.
- Utilizing the Transport Management System to oversee compliance of the transport operation.
- Developing customer relationships, managing inquiries and complaints professionally.
- Conducting investigations related to transportation accidents in cooperation with government agencies, and reporting findings to the Transport Manager.
- Handling employee relations issues through investigations, meetings, or hearings.
- Maintaining effective communication, including daily driver briefings and debriefings.
- Completing DBS checks and worker risk assessments as applicable.
- Preparing KPI reports and maintaining records.
- Overseeing health and safety checks, vehicle hygiene, and routine inspections, ensuring statutory compliance.
- Leading, empowering, and developing a team of drivers and transport assistants, including remote and small team management, to ensure high-quality service delivery.
- Performing additional duties as required by senior management.
- Managing vehicle access, including downloading and locking vehicles in and out.
- Working independently with minimal supervision when required.
This role operates Monday to Friday, from 6 am to 7 pm on a rota basis, typically totaling 40 hours per week.
