Job description

Your Role

Responsible for overseeing daily operations, ensuring effective management and engagement of transport colleagues at Road transport Kineton & Gosport. It focuses on maintaining safety, compliance, service, and cost control while fostering a positive work environment that drives operational success. You will ensure continuous legal and safety compliance, adhering to JSP/Civil authority regulations, all while supporting agreed service levels and transport KPIs.

Your Responsibilities
  • Work with the Transport manager to ensure all driver colleagues in the team have received relevant training and all safety equipment is fit for purpose.
  • Conduct colleague safety observations and hazard reporting. Promptly respond to any safety concerns, unsafe acts and near miss reports raised by employees. Submitting and raising Near Miss, Safety Concerns and Unsafe acts observed while carrying out your daily duties is every colleague’s responsibility.
  • Forward report all Accidents / incidents to the safety compliance team, complete thorough investigations, enter data online, reporting using QSHE Business Tool (QBT).
  • Directly supervise a team of driver colleagues and report directly to your Line Manager. Effectively cascade company and site information by engaging on site and remote driver colleagues, ensuring that within the team they feel valued and engaged.
  • Monitor and ensure all driver training, especially KN mandated training requirements are achieved in line with requirements. Ensure all training records are completed and maintained.
  • Drive compliance and analyse driver performance within the Microlise route, POD and telematics, carrying out driver Dispatch / debrief duties and complete scheduled reporting data and briefings.
  • Ensure all areas in your control remain compliant with EU and UK Transport legislation, managing driver’s Road Transport Working Time Regulations 2005 and EU Drivers’ hours to ensure drivers take all their appropriate breaks.
  • Complete regular tachograph analysis to take place and all infringements are actioned and notified to the Transport Managers for appropriate action to be taken. Drivers are also to be notified of infringements as and when they are identified.
Your Skills and Experiences
  • Experience within an operations environment that demonstrates the capability to build, lead, supervise and motivate a team.
  • Experience of supervising a transport operation with specific reference to the movement of Class 1 to 9.
  • Preferable to hold a Manager CPC National Road Haulage Certificate.
  • Preferable (to be completed within agreed timescales): Basic Induction, Introduction to Health & Safety.
  • Up to date knowledge of transport legislation.
  • Knowledge of quality, health, safety and environment (QSHE) requirements.
