Transport Supervisor

Are you a dedicated Transport Supervisorlooking to make a meaningful impact in a dynamic and forward-thinking organisation? At Tarmac, we are on the lookout for a Transport Supervisorto join our team in Northfleet, Kent

About the Role

Reporting into the Transport Manager, the successful Transport Supervisorwill be supervising a team of Drivers, Logistics and Weighbridge staff involved in the cement delivery business ensuring key performance Indicators (KPIs) are achieved, including service, safety and financial targets. You will also manage daily relationships with the depot industrial team and when required, deputise for the Transport Manager.

What you'll be doing

In this role, you as the successful Transport Supervisorwill be carrying out the following duties and responsibilities (not exhaustive)

  • Be the daily operational interface with key third party transport partners while on shift
  • Ensuring legal and operational compliance with Statutory and Company safety standards, including fleet and drivers
  • Safety & Compliance – ensuring compliance with company safety processes, standards and work instructions and being responsible for the achievement of safety targets
  • Customer Service - supporting the delivery of the cement business KPI’s, ensuring customer complaints and service issues are resolved and the fleet is maintained to required standards
  • Financial - supporting the management of costs to achieve budget and KPI’s and supporting the delivery of plans to reduce costs or increase efficiency through better management of drivers and fleet
  • Staffing - reviewing driver / staff performance and when required, implementing performance improvement plans
  • Site Responsibilities including site induction processes and housekeeping

What we are looking for

We are looking for a Transport Supervisor who is:

  • In possession of a CPC qualification
  • Having an IOSH Managing Safety would be desirable but not essential
