We are looking for an experienced Transport professional to supervise operations at our Bolton Depot. This role involves overseeing transport plans, meeting customer demands, and supervising transport planners to achieve SLAs.

Job responsibilities of a Transport Supervisor include:
  • Managing and planning driver and vehicle resources to meet delivery/collection times and client SLAs.
  • Liaising with the shunting operation for pre-loading and unloading.
  • Ensuring service levels are achieved and maintained in collaboration with other departments.
  • Optimising resources while adhering to WTD and drivers’ hours legislation.
  • Planning runs using the Driver rota, considering shift patterns, holidays, and sickness.
  • Controlling equipment through sign-in/sign-out procedures.
  • Ensuring legal compliance regarding defects, services, MOTs, etc.
  • Investigating fleet damage incidents, RTIs, HPNMs, and escalating as needed.
  • Conducting disciplinary hearings, return-to-work meetings, and substance misuse procedures.
  • Organising and executing risk assessments at the depot.
  • Logging and reporting all accidents, incidents, and near misses per company procedures.
  • Maintaining clear communication with drivers regarding start times, load info, directions, and shifts.
  • Ensuring compliance with statutory, legal, health & safety, and safe systems of work requirements.
  • Pre-briefing and debriefing drivers to uphold company standards.
Qualifications

The ideal Transport Supervisor will have:

  • Significant knowledge of tachograph and driving regulations.
  • CPC National qualification (desirable but not essential).
  • Previous management or supervisory experience.
  • Strong planning, organisational, and numeracy skills.
  • Negotiating and influencing abilities.
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure.
  • Knowledge of Road Transport Directive and current drivers’ hours.
  • Extensive transport experience in an FMCG environment.
