Job Description:

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the delivery of specialised transport services, including home to school transport, Youth offending, CFCS, Adult Social Care, and Respite short breaks for clients.
  • Monitor contract performance through site visits and investigate issues reported by service users or clients.
  • Ensure compliance with safeguarding and child protection measures.
  • Procure and evaluate ad-hoc transport solutions for client departments.
  • Evaluate Direct Travel Assistance Payments (DTAP) to parents and carers.
  • Review and analyse contract performance and assist in service reviews and efficiency savings, including site visits across the County.
  • Identify savings by converting ad hoc contracts to longer-term contracts through efficient procurement.
  • Ensure all service users have a certified Transport Care Plan, liaising with care professionals and schools.
  • Assess service development opportunities with colleagues, clients, and stakeholders.
  • Use bespoke software to maintain accurate financial and client information and generate reports.
  • Verify payments to suppliers and clients and monitor revenue.
  • Support Transport Officers and deputise when required.
  • Deal directly with clients and suppliers with high customer care standards.

Person Specification

Education and Knowledge
  • NVQ level 2 in business management or equivalent.
  • Experience in customer-focused delivery.
  • Understanding of specialist transport services, especially for those with learning or physical difficulties.
  • Knowledge of home to school transport policies and safeguarding issues.
  • Ability to analyse and interpret data.
  • Knowledge of Nottinghamshire and surrounding areas.
  • Understanding of the Council's transport services role.
  • Ability to respond sensitively to customers' emotional concerns or conflicts.
Experience
  • Experience in verbal and written communication with customers, partners, and teams.
  • Experience in a transport-related environment, understanding timetables and vehicle operations (desirable).
  • Good understanding of IT systems, including technical systems.
