Job Description:

We’re looking for a talented Transport Supervisor to join us on a full-time, permanent basis working Monday to Friday on our afternoon shift; 13:00 - 22:00 at our Hounslow site, for our shared user network.

Through the shared service, we deliver specialised freight and palletised goods. This is a great opportunity to develop your skills as a hands-on transport operations supervisor within a dynamic and collaborative team.

We’re looking to offer a salary of up to £31,500 per annum (inclusive of shift allowance).

What you’ll do on a typical day:

1. Coordinate the transport operations on site to meet both network and customer expectations.
2. Ensure that all drivers are compliant with the working time directive regulations and that any accidents/incidents are investigated in a timely manner.
3. Liaise with line management to ensure the effective use of hire vehicles / subcontractors, minimizing the cost impact to the business.
4. Ensure the operation is fully resourced by using subcontractors when needed. Coordinate and record holidays and absences.
5. Ensure the overall smooth delivery of the operation daily and utilize the team around you.
6. Manage challenges and provide solutions to ensure successful operation.
7. Analyze data & resources at the beginning of their shift (from the morning handover – asking the right questions to ensure your shift can be successful).
8. Be involved in HR and health & safety cases – recruitment, investigations, disciplinaries, absences & return to works.

What you need to succeed at XPO:

1. Essential: Good understanding & experience of working within a fast-paced transport operation. (Ideally in a palletised environment.)
2. Essential: Experience in both transport operations and transport planning.
3. Essential: Excellent communication skills – you’ll be speaking regularly with various internal and external stakeholders.
4. Essential: Experience leading people & drivers.
5. Essential: High attention to detail, organized, and ability to multi-task & prioritize.
6. Essential: The ability to pick up new systems and use Excel efficiently.
7. Desirable: CPC qualified.
