Job description

As a Transport Shift Manager, you will manage the day-to-day running of the Transport operation, motivating and managing a large team of direct reports (including Transport Operators, Drivers & Shunters).

Working hours: 4 on 4 off nights, 18:00-06:00

Salary: £42,129 per annum

Key Duties:

  • Ensure all aspects of Transport legal compliance and Health & Safety are maintained, and deliveries are made on time and to the right standard.
  • Operate within budget/KPI levels and strive to exceed expectations.
  • Manage and investigate delivery issues, communicating effectively with internal and external clients.
  • Participate in recruitment and training of new staff and drivers.
  • Conduct regular reviews and develop Personal Development Plans for team members.
  • Engage colleagues in safety conversations to raise Health & Safety awareness.
  • Review and conduct risk assessments of the site, delivery points, and collection points; perform workplace inspections.
  • Ensure full adherence to statutory and legal requirements.
  • Manage team performance in line with Drivers Hours, WTD, and MPG KPIs.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in a similar transport management role within FMCG environments.
  • Ability to motivate, lead, and manage a team.
  • Extensive knowledge of tachographs, driving rules, and regulations.
  • Strong prioritization skills to meet deadlines.
  • Professional, approachable character to ensure smooth operations.
  • Customer service orientation with negotiation skills and influencing ability.
  • Good IT skills, including MS Office, with high numeracy and attention to detail.
