This is a fantastic opportunity to join a brand-new, state-of-the-art distribution facility in Belfast. As a Transport Shift Manager, you will play a pivotal role in leading the transport team, overseeing daily operations, and ensuring the delivery of a first-class service to customers.
This role requires a strong leader with the ability to motivate teams, ensure legal compliance, and drive operational efficiency across a busy, time-sensitive transport function.
The Role
- Manage all depot transport activities, ensuring smooth daily operations.
- Oversee efficient dispatch of routes and products to customers.
- Lead, coach, and motivate the delivery team to achieve excellence.
- Manage driver scheduling, performance, and compliance with legislation.
- Analyse and monitor driver performance using telematics and reporting systems.
- Liaise with key internal departments (sales, QA, H&S, planning, etc.) to resolve issues promptly.
- Ensure fleet compliance with Operator's Licence requirements and vehicle maintenance standards.
- Manage backhaul collections, goods in/out, and depot procedures.
- Ensure adherence to health, safety, and security policies at all times.
- Lead by example, maintaining fairness, consistency, and professionalism in all staff management.
You Will Need
- 5+ years' experience in a management/supervisory role within a high-volume, time-sensitive distribution operation.
- Strong knowledge of UK & NI transport regulations (Tachograph legislation, Operator's Licence, WTD).
- Experience using transport telematics systems (e.g., Verizon, Tachomaster, Truckfile).
- IT literate with good Excel, Word, and Outlook skills.
- Proven ability to manage, coach, and motivate teams effectively.
- Strong organisational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Flexibility to cover three rotating shifts between 4am-7pm, Monday-Sunday.
- A Transport Manager CPC (or working towards) is desirable.
- Category C licence, DCPC, and digital tachograph card advantageous.
- Good geographical knowledge of NI and ROI.
