Job Description

As a Transport Shift Manager, you will manage the day-to-day running of the Transport operation, together with motivating and managing a large team of direct reports (including Transport Operators, Drivers, & Shunters).

Working hours: 4 on 4 off days, 07:00-19:00.

Salary: £41,100.80 per annum.

Key Duties of a Transport Shift Manager:
  1. Ensure all aspects of Transport legal compliance and Health & Safety are maintained, and that deliveries are made on time and to the right standard.
  2. Operate within budget/KPI levels of the site and strive to exceed these expectations.
  3. Manage and investigate all delivery issues, communicating effectively with internal and external clients as required.
  4. Participate in the recruitment and training of new starters – operations staff and drivers.
  5. Maintain regular reviews and develop Personal Development Plans for all team members to maximize their contributions to the department.
  6. Conduct safety conversations with all colleagues to engage and raise awareness of Health & Safety.
  7. Review and conduct risk assessments of the site, delivery points, and collection points, and complete regular workplace inspections.
  8. Ensure full adherence to all statutory and legal requirements.
  9. Manage the team’s performance in line with Drivers Hours, WTD, and MPG KPIs.
Qualifications
  • Proven experience within a similar transport management position in an FMCG environment.
  • Ability to motivate, lead, and manage a team.
  • Significant knowledge and experience of tachographs, driving rules, and regulations.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize workloads to meet deadlines.
  • A professional and approachable character to ensure smooth operation.
  • Customer service orientation with strong negotiating skills and the ability to influence and steer.
  • Good IT skills including MS Office, with a high level of numeracy and attention to detail.
