Are you ready for that next step in your transport career? Do you have experience in managing a team of drivers around transport and process compliance? Perhaps you are a Transport Shift Manager looking for a new challenge?

Here at GXO, we are currently recruiting for a Transport Shift Manager to join our team in Greenford on our Greene King contract. You will play a key role in ensuring the safe, efficient, and effective running of the transport operation while, managing a small team of direct reports and managing the HR processes.

The role is being offered on a full-time, permanent basis. You will work on any ‘5 out of 7’ pattern, rotating between AM (04:00-12:00) and PM (12:00-20:00) shift, though some flexibility may be required during peak times.

We’re looking to offer a salary of up to £43,387 per annum and 25 days annual leave (plus bank holidays). What you’ll do on a typical day
  • Manage, coach, and develop your team of Drivers to ensure optimum performance, compliance and efficiency
  • Ensure effective compliance and best practice with maintaining GXO’s Operator Licence, and drive improvements in transport audits
  • Support the team to meet operational objectives such as service provision, productivity, and compliance KPIs, along with the importance of safety behaviours/culture
  • Be the focal point for all Drivers and Customer Service-related queries and to resolve all issues
  • Deliver and support ongoing continuous improvement projects, deliver customer centric results and identify efficiencies
What you need to succeed at GXO
  • Previous experience working in a fast-paced transport team, preferably with exposure to temperature-controlled deliveries, transport compliance and Working Time Directive (Desirable)
  • The ability to effectively communicate in both a written and verbal capacity whilst building relationships with customers. IT literate (including Microsoft packages and TMS systems)
  • Cost focused experience, with budget responsibility (Open book experience beneficial)
  • Ability to build relationships with customers, suppliers & other internal departments
  • Proven inclusive leadership experience of a diverse team, supporting in development, and celebrating success, whilst continuing to strive for success
