Job Description

We are now seeking a Transport Shift Manager to join our Transport team at our Goole site on a full-time, permanent basis!

As a Transport Shift Manager, you will work collaboratively to ensure the effective running of a busy transport operation, ensuring that Operational KPIs are met and that operations are conducted strictly in accordance with legal requirements. You will also help formulate and deliver short, medium, and long-term resource plans for your area.

Working hours: 4 on 4 off, 06:00-18:00.

Salary: Up to £38,000 per annum

Key Duties of Transport Shift Manager:

1. Work collaboratively with our Myworkforce team to ensure compliance of all MWF activities and tasks, including resource planning and managing the safety and cost-effective utilization of all drivers and equipment.
2. Own, monitor, and control the driver de-briefing process to ensure consistent achievement of performance standards through effective communication and management.
3. Manage and support driver workforce to ensure full legal compliance, maintaining accurate records in accordance with procedures.
4. Manage all aspects of driver performance to meet or surpass expectations and KPIs.
5. Promote company Health & Safety and employment policies within the transport operation.
6. Ensure all personnel files are up to date, including license validation, personal details, and completed training.
7. Conduct site audits and work closely with the Transport Manager to meet KPIs.
8. Support daily operational workflow on the customer site by providing timely answers to urgent queries.
9. Collaborate with the customer and site management to address performance issues promptly.
10. Manage recruitment of permanent and temporary staff to cover business peaks.
11. Report all accidents, dangerous occurrences, and near misses to the Transport Manager and H&S team, ensuring relevant reports are completed.
12. Identify and escalate maintenance and repair issues on-site and within the depot.
13. Ensure daily vehicle checks, inspections, and defect reporting procedures are followed.

Qualifications

1. Proven experience in the Transport & Logistics industry.
2. Successful resource management experience.
3. Excellent organization and communication skills.
4. Experience working with clearly defined service delivery KPIs.
5. Strong understanding of Health and Safety processes.
6. Energetic with a desire to generate and drive improvements.
7. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills in a customer-facing environment.
