We are looking for a Full Time Transport Shift Manager to join our team in Carlisle.

As a Transport Shift Manager, you will be responsible for the successful delivery of the day-to-day transport operations at the site, ensuring the operation runs smoothly, and supporting the Transport Operation Manager with a variety of tasks that add value to the operation.

Role details:

Salary: £38,000 per annum

Hours: 37.5 hours per week

Working pattern: Wednesday to Saturday, 8:00 am to 6:00 pm

Location: Carlisle, CA1 3NQ

What you’ll do:

Your key responsibilities will include:

• Overseeing a team of drivers to drive performance KPIs and implementing operational plans to reduce costs and improve service.
• Managing fleet maintenance and administration, investigating service or operational failures to prevent future issues.
• Maintaining a safe and friendly working environment for all employees, agency staff, and subcontractors.
• Handling recruitment, induction, absence management, well-being meetings, disciplinary actions, grievances, and investigations within the transport department.
• Ensuring effective communication within the transport teams through meetings and briefings.
• Delivering operational KPIs and maintaining performance levels to maximize efficiency in line with account KPIs.

Who you are:

Your skills and experience should include:

• Thorough knowledge and hands-on experience of a transport function within the FMCG Distribution Industry.
• Management experience is essential.
• Transport CPC – desirable.
• A passion for encouraging teamwork and fostering an innovative culture where employees can share suggestions and ideas.
• Excellent team management skills.
• An analytical mindset.
• Flexibility to cover various shift patterns in the future.
• Previous experience working with Trade Unions would be beneficial.
