A national law firm is seeking a highly motivated Solicitor to join its Transport Regulatory team. The role involves advising operators in the road transport sector on all aspects of regulatory compliance, enforcement, and licensing, with regular interaction with regulators such as the DVSA and the Traffic Commissioners.
You’ll join a Legal 500-recognised team working with both SMEs and national operators, with opportunities to develop advocacy experience, manage client relationships, and contribute to business development.
Advising commercial vehicle operators on licensing and compliance under the Goods and Passenger Vehicles legislation
Representing clients at public inquiries before the Traffic Commissioner and preparing case bundles
Attending and advising at DVSA interviews under caution (PACE interviews)
Carrying out compliance reviews and audits of transport operations
Supporting corporate transactions with regulatory due diligence and input on licensing requirements
Delivering training sessions and contributing to thought leadership
Meeting financial targets and supporting business development initiatives
Qualified Solicitor in England & Wales (2-6 years PQE ideal, though wider PQE considered)
Experience or strong interest in transport regulatory law, public inquiries, or professional discipline/regulatory proceedings
Advocacy experience or willingness to develop it
Excellent drafting, analytical, and communication skills
Ability to manage competing deadlines, travel as required, and work both independently and within a team
