Job summary

Pertemps is seeking an experienced Transport Planner in Stoke-on-Trent to design and manage daily transport resource plans, coordinating drivers, vehicles and schedules.

You will monitor live operations, adjust in real time, liaise with customers and suppliers, and ensure compliance with drivers’ hours and Working Time Directive.

This full-time, permanent role offers stable hours, a structured transport environment and opportunities to implement process improvements.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in transport planning or resource planning.
• Strong route planning and geographical knowledge.
• Good knowledge of Drivers’ Hours Regulations and Working Time Directive.
• Excellent IT skills, especially Excel.
• Experience using TachoMaster and Paragon.
• Customer-focused with strong communication and organisation.

Responsibilities

• Produce and manage daily transport resource plans to meet customer requirements.
• Allocate drivers, vehicles and trailers to maximise efficiency.
• Monitor operations and adjust in real time to maintain service levels.
• Manage driver availability, leave and agency requirements.
• Liaise with customers, suppliers and internal stakeholders.
• Support administration, compliance and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Ensure planning activities comply with procedures and legislation.
