Summary: An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Transport Planner to join our team. Reporting to the Transport Manager, this role requires the individual to develop and coordinate multi-drop deliveries to our customers nationwide on a daily basis in the most efficient manner to meet delivery demands.

The successful candidate will work alongside our existing dynamic and successful Transport Department based in our brand-new, state-of-the-art “Sysco Belfast” facility at Nutts Corner, Co. Antrim. This role will suit an ambitious, self-motivated person to enhance the customer's experience of partnering with Sysco. We are looking for someone with a demonstrable understanding of our transport planning and operational processes. Relevant training will be provided on all related aspects of the transport planning systems.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Plan multi-drop delivery routes for drivers to deliver goods and products to our customers.
  • Utilise the company fleet effectively and efficiently, reducing delivery-related expenses.
  • Determine the most appropriate utilization of truck space.
  • Liaise with the Transport Manager and Depot Managers to coordinate back haulage.
  • Understand legal driving hours and adhere to the 'rules of the road', including analyzing driver tachographs and recording information accurately.
  • Monitor daily KPIs and report on weekly/monthly costings of deliveries.
  • Review and enhance the efficiency of routing and delivery activities.
  • Perform any other ad hoc transport-related tasks.

Requirements:

  • Knowledge and good understanding of transport planning and operational processes.
  • Experience in the logistics industry.
  • Proficiency with Excel and other IT packages, with the ability to analyze and disseminate numerical data.
  • Knowledge of tachograph rules (EU & UK) for goods vehicles.
  • Strong organizational and planning skills, with the ability to work independently.
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, adaptable to change.
  • Flexibility regarding working hours, start and finish times depending on business needs.
  • Excellent timekeeping and attendance.
