Penguin Recruitment is recruiting a Transport Planner for roles on UK-wide programmes. The role involves managing transport planning projects from inception through to completion, liaising with clients and authorities, and mentoring junior team members.

Qualifications

• A degree or equivalent in a relevant field.
• At least 2 years' transport planning experience.
• Familiarity with design guidance and local planning policies.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage workloads, work in a team and on own initiative.
• Experience with computer-based systems including Microsoft Office.
• Experience using AutoCAD, TRICs and modelling software.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage small to medium transport planning projects.
• Write and review Transport Assessments, Statements, Travel Plans and Access Appraisals.
• Apply modelling techniques to calculate trip generation and distributions.
• Prepare and review planning drawings such as visibility splays and vehicle tracking.
• Conduct site visits and provide professional input for early scheme development.
• Attend project team, client and Local Highway Authority meetings.
• Assist with Public Consultations and client communications.
• Develop strong working relationships with architects, planners and highways officers.
• Prepare fee proposals for smaller projects and contribute to larger sites.
