Transport Planner

Location: Tamworth

Salary: £32,400 + Benefits

Are you a strategic thinker with a passion for logistics and a knack for optimising transport operations? A leading UK distribution business is seeking a Transport Planner to join their centralised transport team based in Tamworth.

This is a key role responsible for planning and enhancing the performance of a nationwide multi-drop network, ensuring maximum fleet efficiency and compliance with transport regulations.

What You'll Be Doing:
  1. Plan daily routing and resource allocation across a multi-site network
  2. Maximise fleet utilisation and reduce delivery costs
  3. Process export orders and ensure timely fulfilment
  4. Maintain compliance with health & safety, driver hours, and transport legislation
  5. Contribute to network strategy through data analysis and scenario modelling
  6. Provide system support and generate performance reports
  7. Collaborate with internal stakeholders and third-party transport providers
What We're Looking For:
  1. Strong knowledge of UK road network and national transport planning
  2. Understanding of EU driver hours and operator licensing requirements
  3. Comfortable with Microsoft Office; knowledge of Ortec or Microlise is a plus
  4. Excellent organisational, analytical, and communication skills
  5. Calm, logical thinker with the ability to meet tight deadlines
  6. Full UK driving licence required
