Job summary

Tarmac Trading Limited is recruiting a Transport Planner to join our Colchester office in Essex. The role focuses on optimising transport programs, maximising vehicle utilisation and delivering reliable service to customers across our sectors.

As part of a friendly team you will support fleet, weighbridge staff, and stakeholders, plan programmes, manage workload, and adapt to unplanned events while maintaining strong communication and IT proficiency.

Qualifications

• Experience in planning programmes of work.
• Knowledge of health and safety procedures.
• Ability to build relationships with customers.
• Ability to prioritise and manage workload.
• Strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Support fleet, transport planners and weighbridge staff to ensure high vehicle utilisation.
• Ensure high levels of service and communication to customers.
• Cost-effective distribution of Tarmac’s product to customers.
• Manage material service levels through pre-planning of programmed works.
• React quickly to unplanned events affecting schedules.
• Create programmes to enhance utilisation and efficiencies of fleet.
• Identify links to external customers and support commercial strategy.
• Communicate capacity and forward programme to stakeholders.
