About Us: The Hargreaves Logistics business operates a fleet of walking floors, tippers and rigid vehicles, and provides bulk logistics solutions to its customers in the waste, agricultural and minerals sectors. Operating out of our Headquarters in Esh Winning, near Durham, the business provides services across the UK from several operating centres, the two largest sites being Esh Winning and Great Heck.

Role Overview: Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Transport Planner will collaborate with the planning team to manage and plan drivers, ensuring compliance with legislation and company policies while delivering efficient service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement internal systems and processes from initial enquiry to invoicing.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with new and existing customers.
  • Achieve revenue and profitability targets.
  • Plan vehicles to optimize efficiency, utilisation, and revenue.
  • Ensure compliance with road transport legislation and Health and Safety requirements.
  • Manage driver hours, start/ finish times, and route optimisation.
  • Contribute to the standard pricing process from enquiry to order receipt.
  • Handle ETA management, client queries, and direct liaison with clients, drivers, and sub-contractors.
  • Source and manage ad-hoc sub-contractors to meet excess demand.
  • Resolve invoice and query issues.
  • Provide rotational shift cover on Monday early starts, or as required.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Operational experience within a logistics environment.
  • CPC holder (desirable).
  • Ability to understand and deliver operational objectives.
  • Strong customer service awareness, balancing business and customer needs.
  • Ability to work accurately under tight deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills, able to interact across all business levels.
  • Strong IT skills, including the use of bespoke systems.
  • Effective planning and organization skills, with the ability to multi-task.
  • Flexibility to meet operational demands.
