Job summary

Owens Group UK is recruiting a Transport Planner to manage night-time route planning and delivery scheduling. The role requires coordinating drivers, depots and customers to deliver first-class service efficiently, while maintaining cost control.

Responsibilities include data analysis, planning ahead, and ensuring compliance and safety procedures. The position offers a 4 on 4 off night pattern from 6pm to 6am.

Qualifications

• Experience at a similar level in transport planning or traffic management.
• Job specific qualification preferred.
• Experience with Traffic Management and VOSA compliance.
• Strong problem solving and logical thinking.
• Ability to work unsupervised and manage time to deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Plan routes and delivery times to ensure smooth operation.
• Coordinate workloads and liaise with customers and drivers.
• Analyse data and provide timely, accurate information.
• Advise internally and externally on transport issues.
• Develop relationships with external customers.
• Ensure adequate levels of support services are in place.
• Monitor compliance and safety with SAFED where applicable.
• Maintain and use computerised systems and Excel spreadsheets.

Owens Group is a fast developing, multisite organisation, with a large diverse customer base, making this an exciting opportunity.

As a result, Owens Group is looking to recruit a Transport Planner.

4 on 4 off Nights - 6pm to 6am

Salary : £34,000.00

To take responsibility for the timely traffic planning of routes and scheduling delivery times to ensure that the customer receives a first class service in a cost effective way.

Responsibilities and Duties:

• Carry out tasks largely unsupervised to cost and quality standards
• Plan ahead - tasks and resources. Liaise with internal/external customers to resolve problems.
• Collect, analyse and distribute information/data.
• Provide professional/specialist advice both internally and externally.
• Developing relationships with external customer.
• Specify and ensure levels of support service are in place.
• Prioritise and co-ordinate workloads
• Completion of tasks to time and quality standards
• No customer complaints Working to budgets
• Successful working partnerships with customers, internal and external
• Delivering the right advice in a timely manner Achieving respect of others about your competence.

Specific Key Accountabilities

• Working with customers/suppliers/drivers and other traffic desks, planning routes and scheduling delivery times to ensure the smooth running of the operation
• Prioritising workload, route planning driver brief and de-brief
• Liaise with other depots within the Company
• Driver communication and monitoring
• Strong organisational skills for planning schedules, journeys and loads
• Proactively work to reduce late deliveries and missed time slots
• Ability to work flexibly and to make decisions quickly
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to deal with people at all levels
• Maintain computerised system Stirling. Have the skills to use excel spread sheet
• A good understanding of transport regulations currently in force
• Good geographical knowledge
• Booking driver agency staff depending on workload
• Must monitor Compliance and work with drivers and Compliance to eliminate infringements
• Must ensure that all drivers are aware of SAFED, and be actively involved in improving SAFED achievements to goals
• Must be an integral part, and is responsible for employee health and safety
• Ensure that vehicles and trailers are available in a timely manner to adhere to Compliance and inspection requirements
• Provide general support appropriate to the management when require
