Transport Planner

Situated in Widnes, I am currently hiring an experienced Transport Planner to join a large organisation specializing in Road Haulage into the renewables sector across the UK.

The Candidate:

  1. Transport Planning experience for HGVs is essential
  2. Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
  3. Flexible and adaptable approach to work
  4. Strong verbal and written communication skills
  5. Excellent organizational abilities
  6. Solid understanding of Working Time Directive and driver regulations
  7. Good geographical knowledge
  8. Proven ability to problem-solve in a fast-paced environment
  9. Ability to build and maintain strong working relationships with both internal and external colleagues
  10. Previous experience in transport planning or operations

Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Daily Planning: Maintain the current daily transport plan while effectively organizing the next day's workload
  2. Driver Communication: Engage in strong and consistent communication with drivers on a daily basis
  3. Work Allocation: Assign tasks to drivers in compliance with the Working Time Directive (WTD) regulations
  4. Interdepartmental Coordination: Collaborate with various departments throughout the day to address issues and fulfill requirements
  5. Monitoring and Tracking: Oversee vehicle progress using the Mandata tracking system and identify opportunities to reduce empty runs by efficiently allocating work routes
  6. Performance Monitoring: Utilize available reports to identify and address performance issues promptly
  7. Responsive Communication: Manage emails and media communications promptly and effectively throughout the day
  8. Team Meetings: Participate in team meetings to discuss daily progress and plan ahead
  9. Adaptive Planning: Adjust and replan schedules as needed to accommodate changing circumstances
  10. Issue Reporting: Report any significant issues to the planning manager in a timely manner
