Job description

We are looking for an experienced Transport Planner for our client based in Huddersfield. The company is well established and offers a friendly, proactive working environment.

This role isn't your average planning role; you'll work as part of a team responsible for managing intermodal shipments across the UK and Europe. These shipments are carried across their own vehicle network and via rail/sea through subcontractors.

You'll work on a 6-week rota with shifts between 7am-5.30pm Monday to Friday. Once you're fully trained, there's a requirement to cover out of hours, 2 out of 6 weekends. Typically, this is a fairly small amount of work, and you will receive additional compensation on top of your salary. There's also an opportunity to cover two other teams which further increase your earnings.

Main duties to include:

  • Arrange shipments of hazardous goods across the UK and Europe
  • Ensure routes comply with law and external regulations
  • Liaise with internal departments such as transport administration, fleet, and central operations
  • Build relationships with drivers and ensure any queries are resolved promptly
  • Liaise with subcontractors and provide necessary information

We are looking for:

  • Experience of working within a Transport Planning role
  • Good IT skills and the ability to pick up new systems
  • Someone who is open to learning and can take training on board
  • Good communication skills and the ability to build relationships
  • Knowledge of hazardous goods and planning intermodal shipments would be an advantage but it's not essential

Benefits include:

  • Competitive basic salary
  • Out of hours bonus
  • Christmas bonus
  • Healthcare
  • Life assurance
  • Free onsite parking
  • Training provided

Immediate start available; however, they will also wait for the right person.
