Transport Planner

Hull, Humberside

GBP30,000 - GBP38,000 (flexible dependent on experience)

Monday - Friday, Days (rotating shifts: 6am - 3pm / 7:30am - 4pm / 9:30am - 6pm)

A leading logistics provider is seeking a highly organised and proactive Transport Planner to join their UK & Ireland operations team, based in Hull.

This role is central to ensuring seamless logistics and transport operations, managing customer orders from start to finish while maintaining strong relationships with both internal teams and third-party carriers. The ideal candidate will bring a keen eye for detail, excellent planning skills, and a strong customer service mindset.

The Candidate:

1. Transport route planning experience within a tanker, bulk liquids operation.
2. Solid background in transport planning, logistics, or supply chain operations.
3. Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
4. Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Outlook.
5. Ability to remain calm under pressure and adapt to changing priorities.
6. Financial awareness relating to cost control, invoicing, and supplier management.
7. Working knowledge of customs legislation and compliance standards.
8. A proactive team player with strong attention to detail and a drive for quality.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Plan and manage transport operations to meet customer expectations and service levels.
2. Process and monitor orders using logistics systems to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
3. Troubleshoot operational issues and implement swift resolutions to maintain service integrity.
4. Collaborate with customers to understand and fulfil their logistics needs.
5. Forecast and manage transport volumes while keeping costs optimised.
6. Coordinate with suppliers and third-party hauliers to ensure timely deliveries.
7. Oversee critical loads, special campaigns, and equipment usage to prevent contamination and inefficiencies.
8. Track and report operational KPIs, taking corrective actions as needed.
9. Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across the planning function.
