Job description

Transport Planner

Hartlepool Salary up to 32,000 Mon to Fri 8am to 6pm

We are seeking an experienced Transport Planner to join our team. This role is responsible for the day-to-day routing of vehicles, ensuring operations are managed efficiently and effectively. Working as part of a centralised team, you will play a key role in maintaining compliance, optimising fleet performance, and supporting drivers.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Route Planning & Scheduling: Plan and optimise daily tanker deliveries and collections, ensuring efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
  2. Compliance & Safety: Implement Health, Safety & Environment policies and ensure all operations comply with ADR regulations and driver hours legislation.
  3. Vehicle & Driver Management:
    1. Schedule all vehicles for the allocated sites/region.
    2. Manage driver holidays and absences.
    3. Brief and debrief drivers in coordination with regional traffic operators.
    4. Ensure drivers attend all required training.
    5. Ensure vehicles are available for scheduled and unscheduled maintenance.
  4. Fuel & Stock Management: Oversee depot fuel stock levels and coordinate replenishment as required.
  5. Reporting & Performance Monitoring:
    1. Produce and provide relevant operational reports.
    2. Ensure all planning objectives are met and exceeded where possible.

Key Requirements:

  1. Previous experience in Transport Planning
  2. Knowledge of ADR regulations and hazardous goods transport.
  3. Strong geographical knowledge of the UK road network.
  4. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
  5. Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
