Our Stoke on Trent site is now recruiting for a Transport Planner to join their friendly team on a full-time, permanent basis.
Salary: £30,500 per annum.
Working hours: Any 5 in 7 days, 5am-1pm/1pm-9pm rotating.
As a Transport Planner, you will oversee the day-to-day planning of the transport operation. A highly motivated and driven individual, you will be experienced in working in a busy transport department, able to handle daily challenges and provide cost-effective solutions to the customer.
Key Duties of a Transport Planner:
- Subcontracting and planning orders from multiple warehouse facilities and manufacturing sites across the UK.
- Planning daily workload for a fleet of vehicles based on and off-site.
- Dealing with queries and issues via telephone, fax, and email from customers, subcontractors, and warehousing sites.
- Liaising with Traffic and Administration teams to ensure high standards of performance.
- Maintaining, creating, and updating spreadsheets and databases for customer reports.
- Reporting problems and resolving issues and queries.
- Supporting the fleet and driver training teams as needed.
- Completing pre- and post-debriefs for all driver shifts.
- Delivering effective, professional, and timely internal and external communications.
Qualifications:
- Demonstrable expertise in transport planning within a busy environment.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and organizational skills.
- Ability to make decisions under pressure and within tight timescales.
- Flexible and adaptable approach to meet business needs, especially during peak periods.
- Good communication skills at all levels within the organization.
- Ability to identify and suggest improvements for the benefit of the company and customers.
- Motivated, team-oriented, and able to work independently.
- Knowledge of SAP, BPCS, and Road Runner is advantageous.
