Job Description

Our Stoke-on-Trent site is now recruiting for a Transport Planner to join their friendly team on a full-time permanent basis.

Salary: £30,500 per annum.

Working hours: Any 5 in 7 days, 5am-1pm/1pm-9pm rotating.

As a Transport Planner, you will oversee the day-to-day planning of the transport operation. A highly motivated and driven individual, you will have experience working in a busy transport department, able to handle daily challenges and provide cost-effective solutions to the customer.

Key Duties of a Transport Planner:

  • Subcontracting and planning orders from multiple warehouse facilities and manufacturing sites across the UK.
  • Planning daily workload for a fleet: vehicles based on and off-site.
  • Dealing with queries and issues via telephone, fax, and email from customers, subcontract hauliers, and warehousing sites.
  • Liaising with Traffic and Administration teams to ensure high standards of performance.
  • Maintaining, creating, and updating spreadsheets and databases for customer reports.
  • Reporting problems and resolving issues and queries.
  • Supporting the fleet and driver training team as needed.
  • Completing pre- and post-debriefs for all driver shifts.
  • Delivering effective, professional, and timely internal and external communications.

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated high-level transport planning expertise in a busy environment.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to make decisions under pressure and within tight timescales.
  • Flexible and adaptable approach to work, especially during peak periods.
  • Good communication skills at all levels within the business.
  • Ability to identify and suggest improvements benefiting the company and customers.
  • Highly motivated, able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of SAP, BPCS, and Road Runner is advantageous.
