Job description

Daley Recruitment is seeking a Transport Planner for a builder merchant based in Southgate for a permanent position. The role involves daily fleet planning within the transport department, focusing on route planning and providing excellent customer service with a fleet of up to 20 vehicles.

Role Details:
  • Monday to Friday, with possible work one in two or three Saturdays per month
  • Start time between 06:30 and 07:00
  • Salary: £35,000 - £40,000 depending on experience
Responsibilities:
  • Main point of contact for drivers via phone and text throughout the day
  • Communicating between departments such as Dispatch, Sales, and Compliance
  • Route planning using route software and managing real-time changes
  • Managing the order pickers team to ensure goods are prepared for delivery
  • Coordinating with the stock team to ensure products are ready and informing customers of delivery timings
  • Organizing collections from other depots as needed
  • Managing fleet compliance to ensure all vehicles meet regulations
Requirements:
  • At least 3 years of experience in driver dispatch, controlling, or transport planning
  • Background in freight or courier industry
  • Experience in builder merchant industry is beneficial
  • Understanding of transport regulations and compliance
  • Strong IT skills
  • Good geographical knowledge of London and the home counties
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, organizational, and planning skills
