• Commutable from: Ipswich, Colchester, Manningtree, and Harwich

Role Overview:

As a Transport Planner, you will be responsible for managing a team of drivers and vehicles, ensuring the efficient delivery of services and the achievement of revenue targets. Your role will involve coordinating transport operations, liaising with both internal teams and external suppliers, and ensuring customer requirements are met within specified timeframes.

Transport Planner - Key Responsibilities:

• Manage a team of drivers and vehicles to ensure optimal vehicle performance and revenue.
• Coordinate with customers to address their transport requirements, ensuring timely and accurate deliveries.
• Act as the primary contact for company transporter drivers, providing clear instructions and support.
• Manage relationships with subcontractor transport suppliers to guarantee timely and cost-effective service provision.
• Ensure loads are efficiently built, maximizing transport capacity and meeting customer demands.
• Monitor and meet customer lead time requirements to ensure timely delivery.
• Input and manage transport job data into the company’s software system (ADVANTAGE), ensuring accurate scheduling.
• Participate in staff training to ensure coverage for absent team members due to sickness or holidays.
• Take responsibility for out-of-hours on-call duties as part of a rota system.
• Respond to operational changes and shifting priorities, adjusting plans as needed.
• Perform additional tasks as required to contribute to the overall success of the team and operations.

Transport Planner - Skills and Experience:

• Proven experience in transport planning and management, particularly in coordinating drivers and vehicles to meet operational targets.
• In-depth understanding of local and transport routes, with the ability to plan logistics effectively.
• Strong ability to identify and resolve issues quickly to keep operations running smoothly.
• Meticulous attention to detail, particularly in managing transport schedules, resources, and compliance.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of building and maintaining relationships with customers, suppliers, and internal teams.
• Good understanding of relevant transport regulations, including EU driver hours and other compliance standards.
• Competent in using transport management software to track shipments and manage logistics data.
• Able to collaborate effectively with other team members and departments to ensure seamless operations.
• Willingness to adapt to changing workloads and work on an on-call basis as required by the business.
