Job summary

Abatec Recruitment is seeking a Transport Planner in Highbridge to join a growing logistics operation. The role is a permanent, Monday–Friday position with hours 07.30–17.30 and a salary of GBP35,000–GBP38,000.

Based in Highbridge, you will manage the transport department, ensure compliance with DVSA and transport laws, lead drivers and staff, and optimise routes to maximise fleet efficiency and on-time deliveries. A strong focus on safety and cost reduction is required.

Qualifications

• Experience in transport planning or logistics coordination.
• Understanding of DVSA requirements and operator licences.
• Ability to analyse routes, schedules and performance metrics.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day operation of the transport department.
• Ensure DVSA, Operator Licence, and transport legislation compliance.
• Lead, motivate, and support drivers and transport office staff.
• Plan and optimise vehicle routes and resource allocation.
• Monitor fleet utilisation, driver performance, and transport KPIs.
• Oversee driver hours, tachograph compliance, and Working Time Directive regulations.
• Coordinate vehicle maintenance schedules with the workshop to maximise fleet availability.
• Ensure high levels of customer service through efficient and timely deliveries.
• Investigate incidents, implement corrective actions, and promote a strong health and safety culture.
• Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce operating costs.

With a nationwide distribution network, regional warehouses, and a modern logistics operation, we provide reliable service and fast delivery to customers across the UK.

Key Duties:
