Our client is a fast-growing, and award-winning Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering and Transport Planning consultancy. They are offering an exciting opportunity for a Transport Planner to support a wide variety of projects in an expanding team.

Job Description

The key responsibilities for the Transport Planner role include:

  1. Lead and manage small to medium-sized projects, including budget and time management, delegating where appropriate with input from senior colleagues.
  2. Write and occasionally check Transport Assessments/Statements, Technical Notes, Travel Plans, Access Appraisals, etc.
  3. Have a good understanding of modelling packages and methodologies to calculate trip generation and distributions.
  4. Complete/review planning drawing requirements, such as visibility splays, vehicle tracking diagrams, access designs, etc.
  5. Undertake site visits independently and provide professional opinions to inform scheme development at early stages of projects.
  6. Attend project team, client, and Local Highway Authority meetings.
  7. Help prepare material for and attend Public Consultations.
  8. Develop good personal and company working relationships with architects, planners, and local highways officers.
  9. Complete fee proposals for small to medium projects and contribute to larger sites where required.

The Successful Applicant

The ideal candidate for the Transport Planner role should have:

  • A degree-level qualification or equivalent.
  • At least 2 years of Transport Planning experience, preferably with membership in a relevant professional organization.
  • Working knowledge of relevant design guidance and awareness of local planning policies.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to respond efficiently to high standards.
  • Ability to prioritize workload, work effectively as part of a team, and on own initiative.
  • Experience with computer-based systems, including Microsoft programs.
  • Experience using AutoCAD, TRICS, and modelling software.
