Transport Planner

Location - Dover

Salary - Up to 40k DOE

Are you a Transport Planner with a sharp eye for detail and a passion for efficient logistics?
We re working with a well-established haulage company operating extensive UK and European routes, and they re looking to bring an experienced Transport Planner into their fast-paced, dynamic team.

The Role

As Transport Planner, you will play a key part in ensuring the smooth and cost-effective scheduling of freight across the UK and mainland Europe. This is a critical position within the transport team, ideal for someone who thrives under pressure, enjoys problem-solving, and is ready to take ownership of daily planning operations.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, organise and schedule deliveries across the UK and Europe

  • Route vehicles efficiently, ensuring full loads and timely deliveries

  • Liaise with drivers, clients, and third-party logistics partners

  • Ensure compliance with UK and EU driving regulations and working time directives

  • Monitor driver performance, fuel usage, and vehicle availability

  • Respond to issues or delays in real time and adjust plans accordingly

  • Work closely with the transport manager to meet service level agreements and customer expectations

Requirements

  • Proven experience in transport planning, ideally in UK and European road freight

  • Strong geographical knowledge of the UK and European transport network

  • Experience using Transport Management Systems

  • Solid understanding of drivers hours, Working Time Directive, and haulage compliance

  • Excellent communication skills and a proactive, hands-on approach

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines
