Transport Planner

A leading transport company based in Dover is seeking a new EU Transport Planner to support their ongoing growth. A competitive salary is offered for the right candidate, in the range of £36,000-£38,000 depending on experience.

The role involves working Monday to Friday, with good progression and growth opportunities available.

Job Purpose:

We are looking for a skilled and experienced Transport Planner to join our team. The Transport Planner will coordinate and optimize transportation activities to ensure efficiency and cost-effectiveness. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical and problem-solving skills, along with a good understanding of transportation regulations and logistics processes.

The role includes resourcing and forward planning all company resources, utilizing both company and third-party resources when needed. Managing vehicle utilization effectively and providing drivers with clear, timely instructions are key responsibilities.

Ensuring all service levels are met cost-effectively within drivers' hours and health & safety regulations, while fulfilling customer requirements, is essential.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Subcontract additional loads that cannot be covered with company resources.
  • Focus on day 1 for day 2 planning, working with the transport operator to provide updates on same-day changes.
  • Send all farm load plans accurately and on time.
  • Communicate the full plan to subcontractors and drivers, ensuring all information is accurate and complete.
  • Update planning sheets for drivers' L/C, start/finish days for all traction subcontractors (to be completed on day 1 of shift).
  • Add revenue data onto planning sheets.
  • Monitor the planning email for reloads, upload reloads onto Road Runner.
  • Allocate the full plan onto Road Runner, supported by the Transport Administrator between 16:00-18:00.
  • Coordinate with the Fleet team to ensure trucks and trailers are scheduled for maintenance and service early, and plan equipment returns to the depot when required.
  • Assist the Transport Manager in driver training by planning allowances for drivers as needed.
