Job description

Our client based in Droitwich is currently recruiting for an experienced Transport Planner to carry out the following responsibilities:

Role Overview

The transport planner is a key member of the team, primarily responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of delivery and collection vehicles.

Key Responsibilities
  • Planning and routing haulage and pallet network freight on Artic and Rigid vehicles.
  • Establishing customer requirements and arranging collections and deliveries within specified timescales.
  • Routing vehicles efficiently, considering time management and minimising travel distance, while accounting for vehicle weight and size.
  • Using traffic management systems and online platforms to prioritise freight, debriefing drivers, monitoring performance, and escalating issues as needed.
  • Ensuring all activities comply with health & safety regulations for customers, employees, and visitors.
  • Reporting accidents, incidents, and issues to management immediately.
  • Supporting the company in maintaining up-to-date licence checks, adhering to WTD regulations, and ensuring drivers complete necessary training.
  • Monitoring defect reports and liaising with the workshop.
  • Liaising with customers and suppliers, negotiating prices where necessary.
  • Supporting accounts and customer service teams to ensure timely invoicing by ensuring jobs are correctly priced.
  • Handling queries and complaints promptly to ensure excellent customer experience.
  • Maintaining excellent IT skills and experience with TMS/routing programs, CPC, and driver/vehicle compliance.
Working Hours & Benefits

Full-time, permanent position, Monday to Friday, with rotating AM/PM shifts and Saturday mornings (one in three).

Shifts typically start at 08:00 or 11:00, alternating daily to provide continuity, with Saturday shifts usually at 08:00.
