Job description

We are currently recruiting for two Transport Planner/Traffic Dispatchers in Chelmsford.

AM Shift

Salary: £27,000 to £30,000 - 40 hours per week - Monday to Friday - 8:30 am to 5:30 pm

PM Shift

Salary: £30,000 to £33,000 - 40 hours per week - Monday to Friday - 3:00 pm to 12:00 am

The post holder is responsible for managing the day-to-day organisation of operations in the depot through the allocation and routing of vehicles. You will ensure excellent service delivery to customers, maintain health & safety standards, and ensure environmental and O licence compliance.

Your Core Responsibilities:

  • Optimising routes and vehicle utilisation to deliver top-class service
  • Managing driver availability and ensuring regulatory compliance
  • Overseeing vehicle checks, safety, and maintenance
  • Handling administrative tasks like payroll, timesheets, tachograph records, and reporting
  • Driving cost-efficiency by analysing depot data and improving operations
  • This role also offers opportunities to engage with employee initiatives and process improvements

Requirements:

Essential requirements:

  • A good knowledge of the local area
  • The ability to plan, prioritise, and meet tight deadlines
  • A solutions-driven mindset and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency with business software and MS Office, especially Excel
  • Experience in admin, call handling, or a time-critical environment is a plus
