Job description

We are actively looking to engage transport planning and network design professionals with a passion for UK transport & logistics solutions for a new role as a Transport Planner in Burton-upon-Trent in Staffordshire.

Client Details
My client is a fast-growing transport 3PL and haulage business who have multiple sites across the UK. You will be joining a fast-paced environment in helping to plan logistics solutions for a variety of large UK 3PL based clients. The business currently operates a large network of HGV and LGV vehicles, moving around 10,000 individual loads daily. They also operate numerous warehouses and holding facilities across the country.

Job Description
As a Transport Planner, you will report to the Network Planning Manager on a daily basis. You will be responsible for the following areas for responsibility across the Burton-upon-Trent office in Staffordshire:

1. Being part of a team responsible for planning up to 500 multi-drop routes per day on a Day 1 for Day 2 and a Day 1 for Day 3 basis utilising planning TMS software and manual planning.
2. Organising transport through third party transit means via sub-contracting.
3. Ensuring drivers are operating within WTD regulations and in-line with VOSA regulations.
4. Monitoring transport-related expenses, such as fuel, vehicle maintenance, and labour costs, ensuring operations stay within budget.
5. Providing appropriate transportation means with adequate load capacity and regulations around ADR, chilled distribution, etc.
6. Overseeing the availability, maintenance, and operational efficiency of vehicles within the transport fleet, ensuring compliance with legal and safety requirements.

The Ideal Candidate
The successful candidate will have an expansive background in transport planning within the 3PL logistics and transport industry. The ideal Transport Planner will have the following skills and experience:

1. 2+ years' experience in transport planning and/or network design.
2. Experience working with TMS or Transport Planning software.
3. Paragon Planning experience is desirable but not essential.
4. Ideally, the post holder would have experience of route optimisation and CI projects within a mixed fleet of vehicles.
5. Excellent customer service experience.
6. Commutable to Burton-upon-Trent in Staffordshire.
