Transport Planner
Birmingham
Monday to Friday - 18:00-03:00am
£32,000K per annum


We are seeking a motivated and experienced Transport Planner to join our client's team, supporting our daily transport operations and playing a key role in our forthcoming route optimisation project. This is a newly created role, ideal for someone looking to take ownership of routing and resource planning in a fast-paced logistics environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan and route the daily C&D fleet using Nexus, ensuring all service types (timed, premium, economy) are accounted for.
  • Monitor resource levels, liaising with agencies to adjust driver and vehicle availability to match demand.
  • Produce accurate pick sheets, manifests, and consignment notes to support transport and warehouse teams.
  • Balance service performance, operational cost, and legal compliance to deliver efficient routing solutions.
  • Identify and action opportunities for efficiencies, including bulk drops and direct runs.
  • Collaborate with transport and warehouse functions to drive improvements in efficiency and productivity.
  • Act as the primary contact for the upcoming route optimisation project.
  • Carry out any additional tasks as directed by management.
The Ideal Candidate:
  • Strong knowledge of Birmingham and surrounding areas.
  • Previous experience with transport planning and routing software (essential).
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to influence and collaborate effectively with peers and stakeholders.
  • Competent in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Outlook and Excel.
  • Self-motivated, organised, and able to prioritise tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Flexible and adaptable to meet changing business needs.
