Job description

Our public sector client is looking for a Transport Officer to join them on a temporary basis.

Location: Glenfield
Pay Rate: 14.37 per hour

Purpose of the Role:
Support the efficient, effective, and legally compliant planning and delivery of passenger transport services across Leicestershire.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and procure transport services using manual and digital systems.
  • Monitor contract performance, time-keeping, and compliance.
  • Ensure vehicles are correctly licensed and insured.
  • Coordinate seasonal school transport planning and allocation.
  • Support contractor and internal staff training.
  • Maintain transport records and databases.
  • Communicate effectively with service users, contractors, and colleagues.
  • Assist in process improvements and data reporting.

Requirements:

  • NVQ Level 3 or equivalent experience in transport or administration.
  • Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Access, Word).
  • Experience in transport planning, procurement, and data analysis.
  • Strong organisational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation (e.g. Transport Act 2000).
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
