Job summary

Travail Employment Group Ltd is seeking an experienced Transport Manager in Stonehouse, Gloucestershire. You will lead a team of drivers and a Transport Assistant, shape the transport operation for the next five years and drive improvements across routing, maintenance and compliance.

You will report to the Operations Manager and oversee budgets, routes, and KPI performance while collaborating with Sales, Warehouse and Senior Management to support customer journeys.

Qualifications

• CPC qualified Transport Manager
• Experience running transport under Operator's Licence
• Strong DVSA compliance knowledge
• Experience managing HGV fleets
• Proven leadership of transport teams
• Excellent understanding of Drivers' Hours and Tachograph rules
• Experience with route planning and transport optimisation
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ownership and accountability in role
• Strong cross-functional collaboration

Responsibilities

• Manage fleet utilisation and vehicle productivity
• Review and redesign delivery routes
• Optimize delivery frequencies across customers
• Plan future fleet size and replacements
• Oversee vehicle maintenance, inspections and MOTs
• Ensure full regulatory compliance (Hours, WTD, Tachographs)
• Manage transport budgets and costs
• Monitor KPIs and drive continuous improvement
• Collaborate with Sales, Warehouse and Senior Management
• Support customer implementations and new product launches
• Develop transport strategies to enable growth
• Collaborate with warehouse to maximise efficiency
• Analyze data to optimise routes and reduce mileage
• Build strong relationships across the business
