A leading logistics operator is on the lookout for an experienced Transport Manager to join their team in Hull. Reporting to the UK & Ireland Operations Manager, this is a crucial leadership role responsible for the safe, compliant, and efficient operation of the transport fleet. The ideal candidate will bring a proactive mindset, deep regulatory knowledge, and a strong commitment to continuous improvement.

The Transport Manager will oversee all transport operations, ensuring full compliance with O Licence regulations and Traffic Commissioner standards. From managing drivers and vehicles to engaging with regulatory bodies and leading operational improvement projects, this is a dynamic and hands-on position.

The Benefits:

The Candidate:

  • CPC in Road Transport Management (National & International)
  • Proven experience in a Transport Management position
  • A background within the tanker or bulk liquid transportation sector is highly advantageous
  • Strong knowledge of O Licence requirements and transport legislation
  • Experience managing transport operations, drivers, and fleets
  • Confidence working with regulatory bodies (DVSA, Traffic Commissioners)
  • Proven track record in safety management, compliance audits, and risk assessments
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to motivate and develop teams
  • Analytical mindset with project management experience
  • Familiarity with transport management systems, telematics, and compliance tools

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure full compliance with all O Licence and Traffic Commissioner regulations
  • Act as the main point of contact for the DVSA and other regulatory bodies
  • Maintain up-to-date records and ensure timely submission of required documentation
  • Monitor and manage driver hours, WTD compliance, and qualifications
  • Lead driver recruitment, training, development, and performance management
  • Oversee vehicle maintenance, inspections, MOTs, and safety standards
  • Champion health & safety, conduct accident investigations, and lead risk assessments
  • Collaborate with planning teams to ensure cost-effective routing and service delivery
  • Control budgets, manage costs, and drive financial efficiency
  • Lead initiatives around fleet management, sustainability, and operational innovation
  • Implement new technologies to improve compliance and performance
  • Stay on top of industry trends and regulatory updates
  • Deliver reports on compliance, fleet performance, and safety audits
