Job summary

The Vortex Companies, LLC is seeking a Transport Manager to lead fleet and plant compliance for Ireland operations, overseeing maintenance for around 80 commercial vehicles, including tankers and vacuum trucks. You will coordinate with our in-house garage, suppliers and service providers to ensure safety, reliability and regulatory compliance.

Develop fleet strategy, monitor daily checks, drive cost improvements, and report to senior management.

Qualifications

• At least 2 years experience in a similar role.
• Commercially astute with a focus on improving compliance and costs.
• Full UK Driving Licence and Class 2 HGV Licence.
• CILT Level 3 CPC for Transport Managers (Road Haulage).

Responsibilities

• Ensure statutory compliance of all company vehicles and assets with DVA and O-License.
• Oversee Planned Maintenance Inspections, PSV and MOT scheduling.
• Plan and organise vehicle and plant maintenance with operational needs.
• Coordinate with in-house garage for resource allocation.
• Manage supplier relationships for efficiency and value.
• Coordinate breakdown responses to minimise downtime.
• Maintain detailed maintenance/repair records.
• Develop fleet strategy including technology and innovation.
• Lead health and safety culture and ensure compliance.

McAllister's A Vortex Company is seeking a Transport Manager to manage fleet and plant compliance for Ireland operations, ensuring cost-efficient maintenance through liaison with service providers, suppliers, and garage activities. Supporting operations and commercial teams, the role involves overseeing planned and reactive maintenance and repair for around 80 commercial vehicles, including specialist Tanker and Combination Jetting and Vacuum trucks.

You will ensure all vehicles are safe, reliable, and compliant with regulations, and oversee all aspects of fleet management.

Key Responsibilities

• Statutory compliance of all company vehicles, heavy plant and specialist operational assets in strict alignment with DVA and HGV Operator License (O-License) conditions
• Oversee scheduling of Planned Maintenance Inspections, PSV & MOT etc.
• Planning and organisation of vehicle and plant maintenance and repairs in alignment with operational requirements
• Work directly with our in-house garage to ensure appropriate allocation of resources to achieve desired outcomes
• Manage the relationship with our suppliers, ensuring optimum efficiency and value for money
• Coordinate response to breakdowns and plant issues to minimise downtime
• Keep detailed records of all maintenance / repair work
• Build working knowledge of mechanical operation of all plant, HGV’s and maintenance best practise
• Daily communication and collaboration with Operations and Project Management teams
• Support and promote a culture of safe working practises, liaising with field staff as required
• Oversee driver Performance, CPC and driving license compliance and monitoring
• Oversee daily vehicle check procedure and defect management
• Utilise existing Company systems and software for ongoing monitoring, reporting and analysis
• Regular reporting to Senior Management on team performance and areas for improvement
• Develop Fleet strategy including technology & innovation, fleet purchase decisions and fleet structure.
• Responsible for ensuring your own health and safety and that of others and promoting a positive health and safety culture within the workplace
• Ensure all Health and safety obligations are met, and company policies are adhered to
• Report any safety concerns, hazard observations, accidents and incidents in a timely manner to allow full investigation and prevent re-occurrence
• Support with accident/incident investigations through technical knowledge.

Essential Criteria / Minimum Experience and Training

• At least 2 years experience in a similar role
• Commercially astute and drive improvements to improve both compliance and costs.
• Full UK Driving Licence
• CILT Level 3 CPC for Transport Managers (Road Haulage)
• Class 2 HGV Driving Licence
